Interview skills

INTERVIEW SKILLS
An Interview:- an  interview is a conversation between two people(the interviewer and the interviewee)  where questions are asked by the interviewer to obtain information from the interviewee.
Ex: interview of writers and film actors.
A Job Interview:- To select right personnel, employing organizations also conduct interviews.
Purpose of an interview:-
i) Interview=Inner view
They look into the mind of the eligible candidates to assess their strengths and weaknesses.
ii) To recognize if the candidate is suitable for their organization
iii) They assess our i) Physical
                           ii) Mental 
Iii) Psychological
iv) Estimate a cluster (group) of skills.
Skills which we need:-
1. Communication skills
2. Interpersonal skills
3. Soft skills
4. Thinking skills
5. Technical skills
6. Decision skills
7. Problem-solving skills
8. Adaptability
9. Comprehension
10. Feelings, behavior, attitude, sympathy& empathy.
Types of Interviews:-
1. Telephonic interview
2. Personal interview

The Three Stages in Interview Process:-
There are three stages in the process of interview
1. Pre-interview stage
2. Interview stage
3. Post-interview stage

1. Pre-interview stage:
(A) The Night before the Interview:
a) Read your resume/CV once.
b) Think of expected questions the interviewers would ask you.
c) Decide what clothes to wear.
d) Rehearse the interview yourself or with friends and family.
e) Work out a strategy for dealing with stress.
f) Read the job details, employer’s information.
g) Have a clear idea of what they are and what they want.

(B) On The Day of Interview:
a) Arrive earlier at least by half an hour before the scheduled interview time.
b) On entering the premises, study the surroundings.
c) Politely inform the receptionist or someone responsible that you are a candidate for the interview.
d) Be relaxed.
e) Interact with other candidates.

1. Interview Stage:
a) Greet the interviewers.
b) Be conscious of your body language. (hand-shake, posture, eye contact)
c) Don’t shake hands unless they do.
d) Smile and be relaxed.
e) Be yourself
f) Be honest
g) Accept if you don’t know something.
h) Be prepared to talk-but not too much.
i) Be attentive to the questions.
j) Maintain eye contact with listeners.
k) Don’t speak at a very high or low pitch of voice.
l) Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification.

2. Post Interview Stage:
• Thank the interviewer at the end
DO’S AND DON’TS:
DO’S: 
1. Arrive early.
2. Greet and offer a firm handshake.
3. Be positive and confident and sit erect.
4. Make hand movements only when needed.
5. Listen actively and be authentic, focused, candid and concise while speaking.
6. Keep positive attitude all through.
7. Ask questions if permitted.
8. Leave the room after thanking them.
DON’TS:
1. Do not chew anything.
2. Do not slouch.
3. Do not touch any part of your face.
4. Do not fidget or play with the objects on the table.
5. Do not interrupt.
6. Do not lie.
7. Do not criticize anybody and avoid loose talk.
